The ultimate evidence of the Holy Spirit in our lives is not signs, miracles, wonders, gifts, tongues, faith, hope or holiness. The greatest evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit in us is Love. "There are three things that will endure-faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:13). Love is how the world knows we are followers of Jesus (John 13:35). Love motivates us to minister to the least and to the most difficult of these and in doing so to serve and love Jesus (Matt. 25). Love inspires the two great commandments that Jesus gave to us (Matt. 22:37-40).
Love (agape) that is selfless, unconditional and completely giving is impossible without the help of the Holy Spirit. He pours God's love out of our hearts. "For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love" (Rom. 5:5; 1 John 4:11-19). When the Holy Spirit fills us with love, every fear every worry flees (1 John 4:18; 2 Tim.1:7).
